1. House of Seafood (HOS)

When one mentions House of Seafood @ 180, The fresh wholesome
catch from the ocean, specialy their awesome exotic tasty mouth
watering crab dishes comes to mind.

The story begins in April 2008 when House of Seafood opened its first
branch at 180 Yio Chu Kang Road. Due to popular demand, the famous crab
has made its way to Changi at Cosford Road. Follow by 36 Yio Chu Kang Road
and 1 Joo Chiat Place.

From its humble beginning at Yio Chu Kang, the restaurant is still
serving up its finest range of seafood and the most delicious
appetizing crabs to its customers.

Black Pepper crab; The signature from House of Seafood.
That's probably one of the best thing you can eat in the Singapore. The crab is divine but the sauce is the star – sweet yet savoury, slightly spicy and supremely satisfying. You will get it all over your fingers as you crack open the crab shells, and it is simply impossible not to lick it all up. While you’re there, be sure to sample their famous original black pepper crab as well.

2. Uncle Leong Seafood

First founded in a neighbourhood coffeeshop amidst the friendly Ang Mo Kio estate, the ever-popular Uncle Leong Seafood (best seafood restaurant in Singapore) has now heightened into three full-fledged restaurants at Punggol, Jurong East, and Toa Payoh. Still keeping its modesty, Uncle Leong Seafood welcomes a daily haul of customers comprising both locals and foreigners.

The black pepper sauce is thick and so pepperish and is seems to have caramelised over the mud crabs. I can never get enough of this dish! Uncle Leong has never disappoints and I have always walked away feeling so full! It’s a great place to have dinner with friends and family but make sure you book if you’re intending to head there on weekends.

The thing that defines the style and tastes for pepper crab at a seafood restaurant must be the pepper. No doubt, the pepper of Jumbo lives up to its reputation – a classic version, which is thick, sweet, and slightly spicy.

5. No Signboard Seafood

How was the name conceived?

It was a name given by our customers!

Back in the late 1970s, they started our stall at the Mattar Rd Hawker Centre without a signboard. Since cooking had been my forte, they decided to make it their means of livelihood.

Back in those days, selling seafood in a hawker center was uncommon. Eating crab was much less popular unlike today, where the black pepper crab has made its way to be the unofficial dish of Singapore. So they suppose they were in a niche market with the success of our homemade black pepper crab. The other critical success factor would be the endless word of mouth advertising that our customers did for them. They spread word of their tantalizing  pepper crab and referred to them as the stall with no signboard.

Contrary to its name, black pepper crab is generally not too spicy. But if you like your dishes with a little heat then you should stop by No Signboard Seafood, where guests are free to specify just how hot they want their meal. Expect your crab to come coated in a deliciously hearty sauce, comprised of prawn paste, garlic and an abundance of spices
